The Indian navy will retire its iconic Tupolev Tu-142ME “Albatross” long-range maritime patrol aircraft at the end of March.
New Delhi was the only export customer for the type, which has been used primarily in the anti-submarine warfare and maritime patrol roles, in addition to performing photographic and radio reconnaissance missions.

Italy's Whitehead Sistemi Subacquei S.p.A., a subsidiary of Leonardo, might be reconsidered to supply Black Shark torpedoes for French Scorpene submarines currently being built in India, according to sources in the Indian Ministry of Defence.
This follows observations made by India's attorney general on the legality of issuing tenders and its subsidiary defence companies, which are facing probes on charges of alleged corruption.
In June of last year, MoD announced the cancellation of a $200 million deal for Black Shark torpedoes, but MoD sources said the tender was not formally cancelled and that no intimation of the cancellation was conveyed to the Italian company.
:bleh:

Catapulta elettromagnetica offresi ...

India could be the first export customer for the aircraft launching system that is key to the new Gerald R. Ford-class carriers, according to reports in the Indian press this week.
Citing sources in the Trump administration, the Press Trust of India reported this week that the U.S. has approved the Indian military use of General Atomics’ Electromagnetic Aircraft Launch System (EMALS) for its carrier development program.
The timing of the technology transfer is set to occur ahead of Secretary of State Rex Tillerson’s anticipated visit to India in the next several months.

:whistling:

Quote

India’s first indigenous aircraft carrier, the INS Vikrant (IAC-1), is set to commence sea trials by 2020 - according to a report by head of the Indian Navy Admiral Sunil Lanba.
The warship is set to serve as the Navy’s flagship under the country’s Eastern Naval Command  - and will bring the size of the country’s carrier fleet up to two warships.
According to a previous report from the Indian government’s principal oversight body, the Comptroller and Auditor-General, the Vikrant was set to be ready for induction into service by 2023 - though this has been contradicted by the Eastern Naval Command which predicts a much earlier date.

L'India, nonostante il pasticciaccio relativo all'acquisto dei caccia terrestri Rafale, ci riprova coi caccia imbarcati ...

... a Request for Proposal for 57 twin-engine naval fighters is to be issued by next year in which both the Boeing F/A-18 Super Hornet and Dassault Rafale M could be considered.
“The size of the carrier deck lift will be decided later on,” said Lanba.

Accorgersene prima pareva troppo brutto?

Certo che a far casino sono imbattibili.
