oltre ai citati, anche i tanker USMC, sono finiti i bei tempi dei tanker, dedicati, imbarcati.

US expedites Israeli order for six V-22 tiltrotors ....

 

US Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel confirmed the sale during a speech 31 October at a dinner hosted by the Anti-Defamation League in New York, saying the US and Israel have a joint interest in countering threats in the Middle East.

Hagel told attendees that the US will “expedite” Israel’s V-22 order and that the aircraft will come from “the next order to go on the assembly line,” according to a transcript of Hagel’s speech.

That likely means the V-22s will be delivered within two years ....

Potential customers for the Bell Boeing V-22 tiltrotor are being urged to take advantage of spare delivery slots, which will be available during the US government’s next five-year contract for the type.

The Department of Defense’s recently signed second multiyear procurement deal (MYP II) covers the planned manufacture of 100 V-22s for the US Marine Corps and US Air Force through the 2014 to 2019 fiscal years.

“The production profile is declining [from MYP I], and there is spare capacity for FMS [Foreign Military Sales] customers,” says USMC Col Dan Robinson, V-22 joint programme manager.

L'unica vaga prospettiva e' un gruppetto di mezzi acquistati a livello europeo, in versione tanker/awacs (qualora venisse alla luce) e impiegabile con equipaggio misto tra le marine italiane, francese, inglese e spagnola.

Marine Wing Commander Endorses Aerial Refueling Mission for V-22 Osprey ....

 

A Bell Helicopter-Boeing Co. proposal to use the V-22 Osprey tilt-rotor aircraft as a refueling tanker has the endorsement of one of the Marine Corp's wing commanders, and at least one of his higher-ups.

Maj. Gen. Steven Busby, commanding general of of the third Marine aircraft wing at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, Calif., said Nov. 20 at the Milcom conference that he would welcome having some of the service's MV-22 variants serve in that capacity.

Una missione di soccorso con esito .... a dir poco .... imbarazzante ....

 

CV-22s Sustained Moderate Damage ....

 

The three Air Force CV-22s that took fire last month while trying to evacuate US citizens from a violence-stricken part of South Sudan sustained "moderate damage," according to US Africa Command spokesman Chuck Prichard.

However, due to operational security concerns, Prichard told the Daily Report on Dec 30 he could not elaborate or discuss the timeline for their repair.

The incident occurred on Dec. 21 as the CV-22s were approaching the town of Bor to fetch US citizens from the conflict zone, according to an AFRICOM release.

Unknown forces struck the CV-22s with small arms fire, damaging all three and wounding four US service members aboard them, states the release.

Prichard said the CV-22s "returned safely" to their forward operating location, which AFRICOM identified as Entebbe, Uganda, where airmen transferred the wounded to a C-17 for a flight to Nairobi, Kenya, for medical treatment.

The CV-22s are assigned to the 8th Special Operations Squadron at Hurlburt Field, Fla., reported the Pensacola News Journal.

In June, a US Senate subcommittee recommended moving special operations forces and CV-22 Ospreys from Britain to Sicily, since "Sigonella has become a key launch pad for missions related to Libya, and given the ongoing turmoil in that nation as well as the emergence of terrorist training activities in northern Africa".

In particolare, a quanto si apprende, saranno rischierati 4 velivoli MV 22 'Osprey' e 2 KC-130 in versione Air Refueller, per supportare eventuali esigenze di personale e assetti USA/AFRICOM in merito a 'Non Combatant Evacuation Operations' (NEO), 'Hostage Rescue' o 'Force Protection Missions'.

no, abito in toscana e lavoro a circa 8 km in linea d'aria dalla base USA di Camp Darby e una decina dall'aeroporto di Pisa, L'MV22 è apparso basso (1000/1500 piedi) in direzione della base USA e si dirigeva verso sud est. Probabilmente è decollato da Pisa o Luni, meno probabilmente dalla base americana

Del C forse si (ma l'Osprey non è che venga visto benissimo dalla USN come COD), del B sicuramente no, perchè il lift fan è scritto anche li che non ci sta, ma i Marines temo che non molleranno l'osso. Oramai è evidente che sono partiti per la tangente, e vogliono il COD che non hanno mai avuto.

 

Ovvio che hanno i CH53 che riescono a imbarcare tutto, nel caso (come hanno sempre fatto, peraltro, che i Pegasus degli Harrier li hanno sempre eventualmente portati così) ma oramai siamo all'avanspettacolo.

Dettagli sulla missione recupero del personale civile nel sud Sudan. Acuni Mv22 furono colpiti da colpi di mitragliatrice e alcuni uomini dell'USSOF rimasero feriti

Da quello che si dice hanno subito danni piuttosto rilevanti.

Sulla rivista marittima si parla di un requisito da parte della Marina militare per ulteriori 16 elicotteri, 13 Uav ma soprattutto per 9 Osprey.

Si richiedono per "sorveglianza aerea in profondità" (in pratica Aew, con Pod Vigilance?), rifornimento in volo degli aeromobili imbarcati(in pratica tanker imbarcati per F 35) e incrementare opzioni in caso di calamità naturali, incluso il Sar.

Che fossero in sviluppo versioni Tanker e Aew dell'Ospeey era, del resto, stato ipotizzato.
