India, Dassault Rafale Deal Appears Stalled ....

 

Negotiations over the multibillion dollar deal to sell 126 Dassault Rafale jets to India have stalled, according to Indian Defence Ministry sources, who say the sticking point involves issues governing license-production of the jets at state-owned Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd. (HAL).

A series of meetings held over the past three months have failed to resolve the stalemate, the sources said, meaning it is unlikely the deal will be finalized during the current New Delhi administration.

Dassault Agrees Rafale Workshare With India ....

 

Dassault Aviation has reached a firm agreement with India’s Hindustan Aeronautics (HAL) over workshare for the 126 Rafale fighters that the country has agreed to buy.

The agreement was confirmed on Thursday at Dassault’s annual financial results press conference in Paris by CEO Eric Trappier.

The agreement covers the general configuration of the aircraft, the technology transfers and the detailed workshare between the two partners and their subcontractors.

Also, it clarifies the mechanism for handling warranties, said Trappier.

36 anziché 18 ..... come si era previsto inizialmente .....

 

That figure of 36 doubles an initial batch of 18 Rafales built in France that prime contractor Dassault Aviation had been due to deliver within India's prospective total order of 126 fighters for $12 billion.

The French company has been locked in three years of contract negotiations as New Delhi sought to boost the domestic industrial base with local assembly of 108 units.

Details on price and the total number of Rafales to be bought under the new proposal remain unclear.

Indian Ministry of Defence officials were unavailable for comment.

Secondo Jane's l'India avrebbe deciso di limitare a soli 36 esemplari l'acquisto dei 'Rafale' e, con i fondi così risparmiati, punterebbe a rafforzare il progetto nazionale 'Tejas/LCA' .....

Sembra confermato l'abbandono del mmrca. Il Deal per 36 Rafale costruiti in Francia dovrebbe sopravvivere a questo vortice di notizie contraddittorie.

(Se finisce cosi Dassault che non accetterà mai di dare una garanzia "alla cieca" su esemplari prodotti da terzi offre lo Champagne a tutti i dipendenti.)

Dubito comunque che un "pacco" di soli 36 esemplari abbia un benché minimo senso nella gestione di un aeronautica come quella indiana...

Sembra un ultimo colpo di Bluff da parte degli Indiani: "o si fa tutto alle nostre condizioni o non si fa nulla".

Nulla sarebbe non comprare neppure i 36 esemplari.E' la loro discutibile strategia di acquisto di materiale bellico. Altro esempio? I 20 e poco più apache appena acquistati. Ebbene, su A&D ho letto che in estate è prevista l operatività iniziale del loro elicottero d attacco. Anche nell ottica di riduzione del rischio, ha senso comprare due elicotteri così simili?

A questo punto, se non si tratta di un tentativo disperato di Bluff, la logica vorrebbe che l'India non comprasse nessun Rafale.

L'accordo fra i governi è stato firmato ..... ma manca ancora quello definitivo .....

 

“During French President François Hollande's visit to India, French and Indian government authorities signed an intergovernmental agreement paving the way for the conclusion of a contract for the sale of 36 Rafale fighters to India,” Dassault said in a statement.

“Dassault Aviation is very pleased with this progress, and is actively supporting French authorities in their efforts to finalize a complete agreement within the next four weeks.”
