Politica + burocrazia = ritardi inaccettabili ....

 

A final test has proved the Elbit Systems Sky Shield can protect aircraft from the threat of shoulder-launched missiles.

The technological achievement is outstanding, but at the same time Israeli politicians proved once again that they live in a parallel universe where decisions are made at a certain pace – and not necessarily one that fits reality.

notavo come le squadriglie di fast jet dell'IDF tendano a essere piuttosto "cicciotte" con 24 e più aerei ognuna,

 

In particolare mi pare di capire che a inizio 2014 rimangano in servizio attivo:

 

Per gli F-16:

 

1. Due Squadron su F-16A/B block 15: il 116° a Nevatim e il 115° (Aggressor) a Ovda, superstiti a fronte di 125 F-16A/B dei block delle prime versioni consegnati nei due programmi Peace Marble I e IV dal 1980 all'81 e successivamente nel 1994, come compensazione dopo Desert Storm.
2. Tre Squadron su F-16C/D block 30: il 109°, il 110° e il 117°, tutti concentrati a Ramat David, a fronte di 75 F-16C/D block 30 consegnati nell'ambito del programma Peace Marble II dal 1986 al 1988.
3. Due Squadron su F-16C/D block 40: il 101° e il 105°, tutti concentrati a Hatzor, a fronte di 60 F-16C/D block 40 consegnati nell'ambito del programma Peace Marble III dal 1991 al 1993.
4. Quattro Squadron su F-16D block 52 (designazione locale F-16I, Sufa): il 119°, il 201° e il 253° a Ramon e il 107° a Hatzerim, a fronte di 102 F-16D block 52 (noti anche come I Sufa), consegnati nell'ambito del programma Peace Marble V dal 2003 al 2009.

Per gli F-15:

 

1. Due Squadron su F-15A/B/C/D: il 106° e il 133°, tutti concentrati a Tel Nof, a fronte di 70??? F-15A/B/C/D consegnati nell'ambito dei programmi Peace Fox I-IV dal 1976 al 1993.
2. Uno Squadron su Strike Eagle F-15E (designazione locale F-15I, Ra'am): il 69° a Hatzerim, a fronte di 25 F-15 Strike Eagle consegnati nell'ambito del programma Peace Fox V dal 1998 al 1999.

Facendo un po di conti in totale gli F15A/B/C/D consegnati dovrebbero essere 68.Tuttavia la forza attiva non dovrebbe superare i 50/55 esemplari,numero all'epoca dell'introduzione del Baz considerato un compromesso tra la forza minima necessaria e quella sostenibile dato l'alto costo della macchina,oltre ad altre ragioni di opportunità politica che ad esempio hanno limitato l'acquisizione dei RAAM a soli 25 esemplari.La HHA si è poi "consolata"con i 102 Soufa che costituiscono un complemento dei Ra'am nelle missioni a lungo raggio.

Sicuramente con Israele è difficile capire quanti aerei siano effettivamente in servizio. Io cercavo di limitare il difficile compito al numero di squadron attivi.

 

Per gli F-15 originariamente forniti, secondo altre fonti, scramble.nl e soprattutto all’inizio del capitolo 1 di http://www.scribd.com/doc/110606487/Aloni-S-2006-Israeli-F-15-Eagle-Units-in-Combat-Osprey-Combat-Aircraft-No-67#download che consiglio di scaricare integralmente, visto che sei interessato alla materia, gli F15A/B/C/D forniti sarebbero 81, alcuni nell’ambito del programma Peace Fox V, usati quasi esclusivamente come pezzi di ricambio. Di questi ne dovrebbero rimanere attivi una cinquantina, più i 25 Ra’am Strike Eagle, tutti probabilmente ancora in servizio.

Vengono messe a confronto le diverse fonti e raffrontate con gli archivi McDonnel Douglas/Boeing e USAF. Documento veramente interessante per chi volesse sviscerare i dettagli, inbattendosi in questa discussione anche tra qualche anno.

 

Sono presenti anche elenchi completo delle perdite di F-15 e delle loro vittorie, quest’ultimo andrebbe integrato con alemeno due kill di Mig-29 del 2001. Si veda http://aces.safarikovi.org/victories/israel-baz.pdf (che però da un totale di 58 vittorie per i Baz, francamente inverosimile, dovrrebbero essere solo 51).

Israeli squadrons trial joint combat formation ....

 

The Israeli air force has unveiled a new strategy intended to increase the operational capabilities of its fighting squadrons at a time of war – operating two different types of aircraft very closely.

The decision to train in a joint formation is based on the assumption that during a war the air force would have to deal simultaneously with suppressing rocket and missile attacks being made against Israeli territory, and with any attempt by aerial forces to enter the nation's airspace to strike targets.

US Marine Corps Col Daniel Robinson, manager of the V-22 joint programme office, tells reporters that the service is getting closer to securing a contract to sell V-22s to Israel, and says the military has a team of negotiators in that country working on a deal.

The IAF is not economic entity, so when economic considerations are balanced against operational considerations, the latter far outweighs the former, which held true in the purchase of the Hercules C-130J. How would the department reconcile the purchase with the economic reality? "If we decided that we were going to buy the platform and were going to direct the IAF to that point, the Budget department would have to do its best to make it happen", explained Major Galit. "However, there is a lack of resources and we need to find creative solutions in order give the IAF the best answers and that's where the tension starts".

Israele dovrà decidere ... più F-15I o F-35I ?

Negotiations about a possible follow-on purchase of advanced Boeing F-15s for the Israeli air force are continuing, as the nation’s cabinet seeks a possible alternative to acquiring additional Lockheed Martin F-35s.

In November 2016, the Israeli government approved the purchase of another 17 F-35Is, bringing to 50 the number of “Adir” strike aircraft planned for its air force.

The service has been evaluating a purchase of more F-15Is to maintain its desired mix of strike aircraft with the F-35 to satisfy future operational needs. Its initial requirement was identified as for 75 F-35s, but the need to replace the oldest examples of its Boeing-built fighter has become a high priority issue.

Israel has operated the twin-engined type since 1976.

Credo che il quesito non si pone: Israele punterà a F-35I, magari anche a nuovi F-16I se la coperta è troppo corta e bisogna risparmiare: ho la sensazione che i vertici della IAF hanno sempre preferito il Falcon al più performante (ma anche ingombrante e costoso) Eagle

La IAF migliora il '346' ...

The Israeli air force has enhanced the capabilities of its Leonardo Aermacchi M-346 "Lavi" advanced jet trainers by adding external fuel tanks.

The enhancement was made possible after the aircraft's software was upgraded following a long series of test flights performed by the service's flight test squadron.

Una Blue Flag per sette Forze Aeree ...

Seven foreign air forces have so far confirmed their participation in the "Blue Flag" exercise to be held in Israel during November.

According to the commander of the Israeli air force's Uvda air base, identified only as Col I, France, Germany, Greece, India, Italy, Poland and the USA will take part in the exercise; making it the largest multinational event to be staged in the country.

“The Adir is not just another platform, but brings new capabilities to the battlefield due to its stealth,” members of a parliamentary subcommittee found following a two-year review of the Israel Defense Forces‘ multiyear organization and spending plan.
