6/15/2007 - BALAD AIR BASE, Iraq -- An Air Force F-16 Fighting Falcon deployed to the 332nd Air Expeditionary Wing crashed in Iraq at 12:27 a.m. June 15. There was one crewmember on board. The aircraft was flying on a close-air-support mission in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. The cause of the accident is under investigation.

US military deploys warplanes from Europe to Pacific for first time Thursday, June 14, 2007 SEOUL, South Korea (AP) - The U.S. military said Thursday it will temporarily deploy about 20 F-16 fighter jets to South Korea, as the international standoff over North Korea's nuclear weapons program drags on. The warplanes and about 300 airmen were set to arrive this weekend from Aviano Air Base in Italy - the first time forces from Europe have served on a rotation in the Pacific - a U.S. military statement said. The aircraft will be stationed for about four months at Kunsan Air Base. The deployment "signifies the United States' continued commitment to regional stability and security," the military statement said. About 29,000 U.S. soldiers are stationed in South Korea as a legacy of the Korean War, which ended in a 1953 cease-fire that has never been replaced by a peace treaty.

P47 USAAF RITROVATO IN OLANDA Nei lavori per l'insediamento di una zona industriale vicino alla cittadina di Oude-Tonge,sul mare del Nord sono venuti alla luce i resti di uno dei velivoli che scortarono sulla via del ritorno i bombardieri di un raid sulla città tedesca di Emmerich nel 1943. Alla presenza di un rappesentante del US Joint POW / MIA Accounting Command sono stati effettuati gli scavi di recupero pensando di trovare i resti del Ten. Frederick D. Merritt,un pilota disperso e ritenuto caduto in combattimento. Confrontando i dati di missione , il serial number e la mancanza di resti umani, si è concluso che l'aereo era pilotato dal Ten.Robert Stover, uno sfortunato pilota che quando l'aereo venne colpito da un FW190 si lanciò e rimase ucciso nell'impatto con il suolo perchè il paracadute non si era aperto. I suoi resti riposano nel l'US Military Cemetery di Neupre-Ardennes in Belgio, Stove apparteneva al famosissimo 56th Fighter Group “Wolfpack” dell'8th Air Force,gruppo accreditato di 665 vittorie con i suoi 47 Air Aces. Attualmente il 56th Fighter Wing è basato sulla Luke AB (AZ) e si occupa della formazione dei piloti di F16 USAF e delle Air Forces di Taiwan e Singapore

6/13/2007 - SOUTHWEST ASIA -- In Afghanistan, an Air Force F15E Strike Eagle conducted a successful show of force, launching flares to deter further enemy activity in Sangin. Also in Sangin, a Royal Air Force GR-9 Harrier conducted a show of force along a tree line. The on-scene joint terminal attack controller called the show of force successful because it decreased enemy activity in the area. Another GR-9 performed a show of force over a village in Kandahar to allow friendly forces to maneuver in the area. The show of force was reported as successful. An Air Force B-1B Lancer dropped guided bomb unit-38s and 31s on insurgents engaged with coalition forces in Oruzgan. The bombs were reported to have good effects and destroyed their targets. The aircrew also showed force over the area to support a medical evacuation unit. Another B-1 successfully dropped GBU-38s on insurgents on a mountain peak in Oruzgan. The bomber also performed a show of force against a group of insurgents converging near a river in Asmar. Also in Oruzgan, an Air Force A-10 Thunderbolt II conducted a show of force for a convoy moving toward a ridgeline. The show of force was called a success. There were no attacks on the convoy after the show of force. In total, 40 close-air-support missions were flown in support of ISAF and Afghan security forces, reconstruction activities and route patrols. Ten Air Force intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance aircraft flew missions in support of operations in Afghanistan. Additionally, two RAF aircraft performed tactical reconnaissance. In Iraq, Air Force F-16 Fighting Falcons watched over a convoy hit by an improvised explosive device in Samarra. The pilots also monitored ground forces looking for the missing Soldiers and observed bridges for possible IEDs. Later in Samarra, F-16s followed a truck carrying IED emplacers. Also in Samarra, other F-16s provided overwatch for an Army AH-64 Apache that made a precautionary landing for repairs. In Baghdad, F-16s monitored suspicious activities involving IEDs. RAF GR-4 Tornados watched over an outdoor market in Baghdad. U.S. Navy F/A-18 Super Hornets monitored a helicopter attack of insurgents in Baghdad. In Baquba, A-10s strafed insurgents hiding in a canal. The cannon rounds impacted their intended targets. Also in Baquba, an F-18 dropped a GBU-38 on a building containing insurgents suspected of triggering an IED. The strike was reported to have good effects. An Air Force MQ-1 Predator launched a Hellfire Missile and blew up a truck in Taji. The truck was located in a suspected terrorist camp. The missile caused secondary explosions when it impacted the truck. Also in Taji, F-16s watched over an area where an artillery round had exploded. In total, coalition aircraft flew 63 close-air-support missions for Operation Iraqi Freedom. These missions supported coalition ground forces, protected key infrastructure, provided overwatch for reconstruction activities and helped to deter and disrupt terrorist activities. Sixteen Air Force and Navy ISR aircraft flew missions in support of operations in Iraq. Additionally, five Air Force and Navy fighter aircraft performed tactical reconnaissance. Air Force C-130 Hercules aircraft and C-17 Globemaster IIIs provided intra-theater heavy airlift support, helping to sustain operations throughout Afghanistan, Iraq and the Horn of Africa. Approximately 170 airlift sorties were flown, 590 tons of cargo was delivered and some 2,780 passengers were transported. This included approximately 34,160 pounds of troop re-supply air-dropped in Afghanistan. Coalition C-130 crews from Australia, Canada and Iraq flew in support of operations in Afghanistan or Iraq. On June 11, Air Force, RAF and Republic of Singapore tankers flew 42 sorties and off-loaded approximately 2.7 million pounds of fuel to 252 receiving aircraft.

Ad esempio la Marine Nationale , ha un cacciatorpediniere che e' stato imbottito di elettronica e ogni altra diavoleria atta all'ascolto e classificazione delle emissione sonore dei motori, di qualsiasi natante si muova nel Mediterraneo, compreso la barchetta del signor Rossi quando và in ferie. Una scuola apposita forma il personale. Oramai le cose vanno verso operazioni integrate interforze,si risparmia e vi è una maggiore efficacia. e quindi arei e navi compatibili con il concetto suddettosaranno la scelta per l'avvenire.

Gli EA6 sono solo US Navy e Dio solo sà le discussioni che sono state necessarie per integrarli nelle missioni USAF, al di là delle gelosie di quartiere, incompatibilità e incomprensioni non sono mancate. ANCHORAGE, Alaska – The Air Force on Tuesday identified two fighter pilots involved in a mid-air collision during a training exercise at Eielson Air Force Base. Maj. Jason W. Costello, an F-15 pilot, and Maj. Brett R. Paola, an F-16 pilot, have been released from the base clinic and “are doing well” following Monday's crash, according to Airman Justin Weaver, a base spokesman. Neither pilot sustained any injuries, Weaver said. Costello is assigned to Langley Air Force Base, Va., and Paola is assigned to the 64th Aggressor Squadron at Nellis Air Force Base, Nev. The pilots were engaged in a simulated combat mission during Red Flag-Alaska. The two-week training exercise includes more than 1,400 military members and about 80 aircraft from the U.S., Singapore and Australia. “The exercise prepares new pilots that might be flying overseas and trains them for realistic threats through simulated combat sorties,” Weaver said. Costello ejected from the F-15C after the collision and Paola managed to land the F-16c. The $30 million F-15C hit the ground and is considered irreparable, Weaver said. The extent of damage to the F-16C was not immediately known. The cause of the crash will be investigated by a team of senior Air Force officers and a report will be made public in two to three months, Weaver said. Meanwhile, Red Flag will resume on Wednesday and is scheduled to run through Friday. The collision occurred shortly after 11 a.m. in mostly cloudy skies at the Pacific Alaska Range Complex about 90 miles east of Fairbanks in Alaska's interior. The 67,000 square-mile training range, roughly the size of Kansas, is one of the largest in the world. The crash is the third to occur during Red Flag-Alaska, previously known as “Cope Thunder,” in the last 16 years, Weaver said. Three to four such exercises are held in Alaska each year.

Forse li avremo via Usaf,quel poco che hanno. A China Lake quelli del 155° Grp ci sono già stati circa 3 anni fa' con i loro aerei,magari qualcosa gli hanno già passato. Mi pare che esista anche qualche foto magari sfrucuglio nei miei cassetti la trovo.

Forse l'impiego operativo aveva suggerito ritocchi al pensiero iniziale. Certo questo inizio di ritiro dal servizio ha colto molti di sorpresa ,forse non e' quella meraviglia che dicevano.

Mi sembra plausibile che se abbiamo pagato per i missili ,il pacchetto possa riguardare anche la cessione del software per usarli. Certo a noi non importa quel granchè dei dati radar della ex Birmania o del Nepal. Se i satelliti non servono, pare che le versioni elettroniche dei C12 vadano discretamente bene ,specie per ascoltare le frequenze telefoniche. Non sempre basta pagare perche' gli Americani ti lascino entrare in un programma,credo.

Sull' F117 cosi' si esprime un'analista strategico,tale Loren Thompson del Lexington Institute di Washington citato nel corpo dell'articolo. Sinceramente non ne sò di più.
