In an attempt to answer prevailing questions about our moon, NASA is making final preparations to launch a probe at 11:27 p.m. EDT Friday, Sept. 6, 2013, from NASA's Wallops Flight Facility on Wallops Island, Va. The small car-sized Lunar Atmosphere and Dust Environment Explorer (LADEE) is a robotic mission that will orbit the moon to gather detailed information about the structure and composition of the thin lunar atmosphere and determine whether dust is being lofted into the lunar sky. A thorough understanding of these characteristics of our nearest celestial neighbor will help researchers understand other bodies in the solar system, such as large asteroids, Mercury, and the moons of outer planets. In this photo, engineers as NASA's Wallops Flight Facility in Virginia encapsule the LADEE spacecraft into the fairing of the Minotaur V launch vehicle nose-cone. Si è appena conclusa l'ultima edizione dell'esercitazione Red Flag-Alaska (RF-A 13-3) .... Fonte .... il "Daily Report" dell'AFA ....

Mi permetto di dubitare che il supersonico militare di Sukhoi sia da considerare come il "padre" del supersonico civile di Tupolev .... anche perché il T-4 è successivo, almeno per quel che concerne il primo volo, di ben 44 mesi al Tu-144 .... E' dunque probabile che i due progetti siano stati più o meno contemporanei .... ma si è trattato di "convergenze parallele" .... anche perché fra Andrei Nikolayevich e Pavel Osipovich pare non corresse buon sangue .... Quanto alle caratteristiche che elenchi .... erano più o meno comuni a tutti i progetti di SST dell'epoca .... americani compresi. A titolo di cronaca .... ritengo degno di menzione il fatto che Tupolev ebbe modo di osservare, al Salone di Parigi del 1961, il mock-up del Sud Aviation "Super Caravelle" .... il progenitore francese del Concorde .... Quello con tanto di cappello dovrebbe essere lui .... assieme a Mikoyan e Myasishchev .... Penso comunque sia venuto il momento di chiudere questo ormai troppo lungo OT .... che col B-2 Spirit ha ben poco a che fare ....
