Misteriosa collisione nel Mar Cinese Meridionale ...
Il sottomarino USS Connecticut lascia San Diego con destinazione Bremerton ...

Cita

The damaged nuclear attack submarine USS Connecticut (SSN-22) departed San Diego, Calif., on Wednesday, a Navy spokesperson confirmed to USNI News.
Connecticut arrived in San Diego on Sunday after an almost month-long surface transit from Guam, USNI News reported.
The Navy has said the submarine is ultimately bound for Bremerton, Wash., to undergo repairs following the collision.
The attack boat struck an underwater mountain on Oct. 2, according to a summary of the investigation previously reported by USNI News.
The impact into the seamount in the South China Sea resulted in damage to the sonar dome, making travel underwater unsafe, several Navy officials told USNI News.

Nell'eventualità di un conflitto nel Pacifico ...

Cita

Preparing for conflict in the Pacific will require more than learning to fly fighters out of austere locations - it will also call for small bomber crews to go on quick consecutive missions to unfamiliar places.
In a kinetic “bomber agile combat employment” (BACE) exercise Dec. 6-8, two B-52s from the 5th Bomb Wing at Minot Air Force Base, N.D., conducted a mission in Canada then flew to Edwards Air Force Base, Calif., for a second mission, this time working alongside Navy counterparts.
“This was laying the foundation and the bed for getting to that austere and unfamiliar location,” Air Force Capt. Austyn Wilson, a weapons system officer in the wing’s 23rd Bomb Squadron, said in an interview.
Wilson flew on one of the B-52s from Minot to Edwards and back for the two missions in three days.
Pacific Air Forces has spent decades adapting to operations in contested environments, first under the dynamic force employment concept and now under the Air Force’s new priority, agile combat employment (ACE).

This study examines the maritime claims of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) in the South China Sea.
The PRC’s expansive maritime claims in the South China Sea are inconsistent with international law as reflected in the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (“Convention”).

Sarebbe a dire ?

I cinesi erano impotenti.

Cita

Two House Armed Services Committee lawmakers forecast a difficult upcoming budget cycle for the Navy and criticized the service for not coming to Congress with a strategy to build a fleet that can counter China.
Speaking to the annual Surface Navy Association symposium, Reps. Elaine Luria (D-Va.) and Mike Gallagher (R-Wis.) voiced concern over the Navy’s impending Fiscal Year 2023 budget submission.
“Everything I hear from inside the building, not with details, is that the next one is actually going to be worse,” Luria said of the Fiscal Year 2023 budget, comparing it to the FY 2022 plan that asked for fewer battleforce ships than previously projected.
“And it really frightens me. It frightens me when we have … increased aggressive actions of China against Taiwan, not only in rhetoric, but their sorties,” she added.
Gallagher echoed Luria’s concerns and said he has heard similar rumblings about the budget slated for release in the coming months.
It could be a bloodbath for the Navy,” he said.

Cita

Tensions across the Taiwan Strait intensified in 2021.
China's military flights into Taiwan's air-defense identification zone more than doubled last year, and in the final days of December, Taipei and Beijing warned each other against crossing any red lines.
Taiwan's Defense Ministry has said it is confident that it would be difficult for China to pull off a full-scale invasion, and the US Department of Defense's most recent report on China's military, released in November, says China "appears willing to defer the use of military force" against Taiwan, which it views as a breakaway province, as long as it thinks that unification can be negotiated and that the costs of conflict outweigh the benefits.
China's military, known officially as the People's Liberation Army (PLA), has a clear numerical advantage in troops, ships, and aircraft.
Those forces are improving as the PLA continues its modernization efforts, and despite Taiwan embarking on its own military modernization, China's advantage has only grown in recent years.

The US is looking for ways to accelerate delivery of Taiwan’s next generation of newly built F-16 jets, US officials said, bolstering the Taiwanese air force’s ability to respond to what Taipei and Washington see as increasing intimidation by the Chinese military.
The officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, said that they have not yet come up with a solution on how to speed up delivery of Block 70 F-16s, manufactured by Lockheed Martin Corp and equipped with new capabilities.
The aircraft are slated to be delivered by the end of 2026.

Clear and Growing Danger ...

Cita

China’s progress toward military superpower status continues to accelerate.
It already poses significant air and space power challenges to the U.S., but its expansionist strategies also affect all the adjacent countries, both in southeast Asia and farther north.
Every year, the Pentagon sends a report to the U.S. Congress on military and security developments in the People’s Republic of China (PRC).
According to the latest one, the People’s Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF) now ranks as the third-largest air force in the world with 2,250 combat aircraft.
The People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) is the world’s largest, with 355 ships and submarines.
Of course, numbers don’t mean everything, but the report noted that “the PLA is training to ‘fight and win’ through increasingly realistic combat training.”

Obama’s TPP Would’ve Helped Limit China

The passage of the Trans-Pacific Partnership would have hamstrung, to some degree, many of China’s larger ambitions that are now in the works: Belt and Road Initiative, Made in China 2025, possibly some of the expansion in the South China Sea, their own trade negotiations with the nations that were part of TPP, etc.

Obama dice

We have to make sure America writes the rules of global economy..... because if we don't write the rules for trade around the world... guess what? China will.

Like I've announced with Trans Pacific Partnership(TTP), it'll make new investment in advanced manufacturing not oversea but right here in United State

The Chinese military has denied that a People’s Liberation Army Navy warship used a laser last week to harass an Australian military aircraft, while Australian officials call for an investigation.
While China has yet to issue an official response directly to Australia on the incident, Senior Col. Tan Kifei, spokesperson for China’s Ministry of National Defense, told reporters on Monday that “on February 17, the Australian P-8 anti-submarine patrol aircraft arrived in the airspace surrounding our ship formation, and the nearest distance to our ship was only 4 kilometers.
During the entire encounter with the Australian military aircraft, the Chinese warships always maintained safe, standardized and professional operations, in line with relevant international law and practice”.
Tan also showed photos of the Australian P-8 and purportedly a sonobuoy placed in the waters close to the PLAN ships.
