Il caccia e scomparso dai radar dopo due minuti dopo il decollo, a pilotarlo era col. Vladimir Sobolev, era considerato un pilota esperto. Capo del Servizio Stampa e Informazione del Ministero della Difesa il colonnello Alexei Kuznetsov precisò che il "corpo" del pilota e i resti del aereo sono stati trovati a 20 km a nord dal KoA. Le ragioni della caduta del caccia non è ancora noto, fino al termine del'inchiesta tutti i voli del su 27 sono temporaneamente interrotti, ha sottolineato il ministero della Difesa.
