La USS Gerald R. Ford a confronto con le portaerei classe Nimitz ...

Quote

The Navy's $13B first of its kind Ford class supercarrier, the USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN-78), which now has Carrier Air Wing 8 embarked onboard, is slowly showing signs of improvement to its various systems after a litany of engineering setbacks, but it still has a long way to go before becoming available for actual operational deployments.
As such, the Navy's 10 Nimitz class carriers will continue providing for America's national defense needs alone.
Beyond their general configurations, the two classes have major differences, both outwardly visible and not.
Pictures released by the Navy today showing the USS Harry S. Truman sailing alongside USS Gerald R. Ford give us our best visual comparison yet of the two classes.

Quote

Aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson (CVN-70) departed Bremerton, Wash., on Sunday bound for its new homeport in San Diego after completing a year and a half of maintenance, the Navy announced.
Part of the 17-month dry dock repair period was to make the carrier ready for the Navy’s first F-35C Lighting II Joint Strike Fighter deployment that is planned for next year.
The F-35C modifications added classified spaces to the carrier and replaced the carrier’s jet-blast deflectors.
The ship’s current carrier launch and recovery systems don’t require modifications to handle the new fighters.
The docking planned incremental availability (DPIA) at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility that began on Feb. 28, 2019, added the systems needed to fly and maintain the Navy’s F-35 ...
--- --- ---
The ship is now underway for sea trials and will arrive at its new homeport in San Diego, Calif., before beginning the months-long training period to integrate the air wing and surface forces for the anticipated 2021 first operational deployment of the F-35C. The “Argonauts” of Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 147 are expected to be first F-35C squadron to deploy.

Sbaglio o mi sembra una provocazione anche questa?

Non credo che quegli angioletti dei Cinesi ammetterebbero mai di aver provocato gli Americani  👼 ... caso mai affermerebbero di aver fatto solo e soltanto una ... "dimostrazione" ...

Joint forces are assembling around Guam and the Mariana Islands Range Complex for high-end Pacific exercise Valiant Shield 2020, which kicks off today.
The exercise, which takes place every other year following the Rim of the Pacific international exercise, is U.S.-only and typically covers more sophisticated warfighting tactics and systems than does RIMPAC, which is meant to be more inclusive for all partners and allies.
Valiant Shield 2020 will run from Sept. 14 through 25.
Participants include aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan (CVN-76), amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA-6), amphibious transport dock USS New Orleans (LPD-18), dock landing ship USS Germantown (LSD-42) – all of which are forward-based in Japan – as well as other surface ships, approximately 100 aircraft and an estimated 11,000 personnel from the U.S. Navy, Air Force, Army, and Marine Corps ...

"Andate avanti e costruite quella grande nave" ... all'ammiraglio piace il fatto che la Cina stia costruendo una terza portaerei ... così sarebbe giustificata la richiesta, da parte dell' US Navy, volta alla realizzazione di ulteriori portaerei americane ...

China’s pursuit of more aircraft carriers validates the U.S. Navy’s commitment to building more American aircraft carriers in the future, the U.S. admiral in charge of providing forces to the fleet said on Thursday.
“Good on ‘em. It makes the argument that carriers are important,” Adm. Chris Grady, commander of U.S. Fleet Forces, said on Thursday.
“We have them. They want them and they’re building them.”
--- --- ---
“Lot of blood, lot of loss of life, a lot of sweat and tears to make naval aviation work. We’ve got a huge lead and one that will continue to expand into the future. Go ahead and build that big ship, but to build the eco-system that is naval aviation that brings that ship to life – that’s going to take a lot of hard work and time.”
