:bleh:

Quote

Even before two major earthquakes struck China Lake Naval Air Weapons Station, Calif., in early July, the Navy was moving ahead with expanding installation boundaries to accommodate new and future weaponry, including unmanned aerial vehicles.
The service got its hands-on 33,096 acres of public lands that abut South Range, which houses the NAWS Weapons Division’s electronic warfare range complex that is a critical part of China Lake Land Ranges.
The expansion includes the former Air Force Cuddeback Air-Gunnery Range, federal public lands that through congressional actions in 2015 and 2016 were transferred to the Navy to support a decision to boost operations at China Lake’s vast land range complex by 25 percent.
The Air Force had returned the 2,800-acre gunnery range, 20 miles southeast of the city of Ridgecrest, to the U.S. Bureau of Land Management in 2012.

Missili offensivi ... il rischio sta crescendo ...

Quote

Over the past decade, the lethality of foreign anti-ship missiles has improved at a rate greatly exceeding that of defensive missile development.
The prime driver is a technological development cost gap: It is far cheaper to develop missiles to hit relatively slow-moving ships than to intercept other missiles moving at supersonic speeds.
As a result, near-peer nations are fielding antiship missiles that possess greater range, speed, lethality, and, most important, numbers than U.S. Navy defensive missiles.
For too long, the Navy has promoted a defensive missile strategy, using Aegis cruisers and destroyers to protect a single, high-value target - the aircraft carrier.
Against modern offensive missiles, this strategy no longer is sound.

"NEMESIS" ... ovvero ... la nuova frontiera della disinformazione ...

Quote

The U.S. Navy has been quietly developing what could be one of the most important, transformative, and fascinating advances in naval combat, and warfare in general, in years.
This new electronic warfare "system of systems" has been clandestinely refined over the last five years and judging from the Navy's own budgetary documents, it may be operational soon, if it isn't already.
This secretive new electronic warfare "ecosystem" is known as Netted Emulation of Multi-Element Signature against Integrated Sensors, or NEMESIS.
NEMESIS is not just some 'paper program.'
From publicly available, but obscure documents we've collected, it's clear that, for years, the Navy has been developing and integrating multiple types of unmanned vehicles, shipboard and submarine systems, countermeasures and electronic warfare payloads, and communication technologies to give it the ability to project what is, in essence, phantom fleets of aircraft, ships, and submarines.
These realistic-looking false signatures and decoys have the ability to appear seamlessly across disparate and geographically separated enemy sensor systems located both above and below the ocean's surface.
As a result, this networked and cooperative electronic warfare concept brings an unprecedented level of guileful fidelity to the fight.
It's not just about disrupting the enemy's capabilities or confusing them at a command and control level, but also about making their sensors tell them the same falsehoods across large swathes of the battlespace.

Quote

A new nuclear warhead requested, designed and produced under the Trump administration, has been deployed aboard a nuclear submarine, the Pentagon confirmed Tuesday.
The deployment of the W76-2, a low-yield variant of the nuclear warhead traditionally used on the Trident missile, was first reported Jan. 29 by the Federation of American Scientists.
The first to move out with the new weapon was the USS Tennessee (SSBN-734), deploying from Kings Bay Submarine Base in Georgia at the end of 2019, FAS reported.
Asked about the reported deployment, a Pentagon spokesman stated that it is U.S. policy to neither “confirm nor deny” the presence of nuclear weapons abroad and declined to comment on the specific details of the FAS report, such as the ship involved.
However, in a Tuesday statement, undersecretary of defense for policy John Rood confirmed that the Navy has fielded the weapon (*).
